Pulse AI Analytics

An AI-native analytics dashboard where the chart and the agent share one data model.

Role

Product Designer

Scope

Product design · Design system · Coded prototype

Problem

Dashboards show what changed, not why.

Pulse is a concept for a product analytics tool where you can spot a change on a chart, ask about it, get an answer you can check, and act on it without leaving the page. I designed it in Figma with Claude, then built the prototype above in code to test the moment that matters most: the hand-off from chart to agent.

THE CHALLENGE

Dashboards are good at showing that something changed. Finding out why still means pasting a screenshot into Slack and waiting for someone from the data team.

AI chat answers fast, but most tools hide how they got there. If people can't check the numbers, they won't act on them, and they won't share them.

THE IDEA

I designed the agent around three rules:

Show the work

Answer, then act

Stay read-only

Every answer lists the queries it ran, ends with a concrete next step, and never writes to customer data. The dashboard links in through Ask Pulse pins on anomalies, so a question starts with the right context instead of a blank prompt.

THE SCREENS · FIGMA

Figma · Analytics dashboard, dark. KPIs, a DAU chart with an anomaly pin and a release marker, the funnel, cohort retention and top accounts.

Figma · Pulse Agent. The run trace, a streamed answer, an inline chart and three next steps.

Figma · Light and dark from one token set. Every screen ships in both.

DESIGNING FOR

Growth and product leads who check the numbers every morning and have to explain them by lunch.

Pulse is for people who own a metric but not the data warehouse. They don't need more charts. They need to know if a change is real, why it happened, and who should act on it.

Growth Lead · Fernway · Stockholm

“I don't need another chart. I need to know if this dip is a problem, and who should look at it.”

What she needs

A reason behind every spike or dip

Numbers she can check before sharing

One step from insight to alert

Less back and forth with the data team

DESIGN SYSTEM · FIGMA

OUTCOME

Pulse is a concept, but the method is how I work today. I designed the system in Figma with Claude, stress-tested the data so every number on every screen agrees, then built the prototype in code to test the chart-to-agent hand-off in a real browser. The result is a design you can click through, not just look at.
